Evaluation is much more than asking folks a few questions about the educational experience they have just completed.

Serious evaluation starts with the beginning of a project and is systematically built into every aspect of its development using carefully designed procedures, protocols and, if necessary, tests.

The findings enable program leaders to review their work and make needed adjustments to improve their programs. This can be critical to achieving the program’s goals and satisfying participants.

Evaluation instrument design

It is the evaluative design that determines the size, scope and reliability of these data.

EV has vast experience in designing the evaluation components of educational programs, events and strategies that get to the core of the activity and its participants.

We are able to design procedures, protocols and tests that will reveal what is going on and how the people involved perform in and view the activity, producing reliable data from which clear patterns can be drawn and the need for adjustment determined.


Assessment

Identifying the relative impact of a learning enterprise sometimes requires the application of assessment procedures and testing.

This can be a sensitive area for program participants, especially if a pre- and post-test procedure is adopted. Hard evidence requires controlling variables to ensure valid scores and reliable data.

Sometimes, it is question of finding existing tests that have be proven reliable over time. However, often there are no “good fit” tests available.

EV knows how to find and survey existing tests and, if none exist, is able to develop custom tests appropriate to the task, implement the testing procedures and statistically analyze the results.
